Listing a lot of items quickly

A spreadsheet becomes drafts, never live listings. Two columns are required and one changes everything.

Upload a spreadsheet and every row becomes a draft. Nothing is created on sale, so a typo in a price cannot go live — you see what was read, row by row, and publish when you are happy.

Up to 200 rows at a time.

What a row needs

Title and price. That is the whole requirement.

What a row can also carry

Stock, description, condition, category, tags, brand, weight, length, width, height, and photos.

Photos are web addresses, comma separated, up to the same limit a listing allows. A row with no photo is still created — it simply stays a draft until you add a picture.

Fill in weight and dimensions while you are there. It is the one thing that is tedious per item and cheap in bulk, and leaving it blank costs you later when the courier bills the difference. Weights and dimensions, and why they matter

The column that changes everything

id. A row carrying a listing's own id — as the inventory export writes it — updates that listing instead of creating a new one.

That is what turns the export into a working tool: download your inventory, change prices or stock in a spreadsheet, upload it back. Without the id column the only possible outcome of editing an export is a second copy of every item.

So: export first, edit, re-upload. Do not retype what you already have.

What it is good for

Getting a lot of existing stock in, at the start.

A price change across many items.

Updating stock levels after a market or a show.

Fixing a description you used everywhere, like a care instruction.

What it is not good for

Photographs. Links only, and an item without a good first photograph does not sell however efficiently it was listed.

Anything one of a kind. The things that sell best here need individual descriptions, and a spreadsheet encourages the opposite. What sells well in a live auction

After the upload

They are drafts. Read the problems it names, fix what matters, then publish.

Publishing is the moment they go on sale and the moment followers may be told — so publish when you are ready, not at 2am while you are still checking.

If it does not work

Usually one of a handful of things, and the app names them per row. My bulk import did not work

More: my bulk import did not work, weights and dimensions, how to write a good description.
