Pickup is the safest way to buy a heavy or fragile thing, and it stays safe by staying ordinary.
The five rules
1. Go to the published pickup point. The address the store set, which you saw at checkout. Not an address sent to you afterwards. What is a pickup point?
2. Go during the published hours. They are on the point, and they feed your collection deadline.
3. The order is already paid. Nobody should ask you for money on arrival. If they do, something is wrong — stop and raise it. Is it safe to pay on Metzee?
4. Take the order details. It is how they find your parcel.
5. Check the item before you leave. The one advantage pickup has over delivery, and most people waste it. Open it, look at it, ask.
What to refuse
A different address. If the location has changed, ask the store to update the point rather than meeting somewhere ad hoc. A business publishes where it is.
Cash on arrival.
Finishing the deal off Metzee — paying directly, or buying something extra without an order. Everything on this page stops applying. Is Metzee safe to buy from?
Ordinary sense
Daylight and open hours, by preference.
Tell somebody where you are going, for a first collection somewhere unfamiliar.
It is a business address, not a home. Most pickup points are shops, studios or stalls. A store that only offers a residential address with no business presence is worth a question first.
What a store should not ask you for
Your code, your PIN, or anything beyond the order reference. Messages that are not from Metzee
If the item is wrong when you get there
Say so there and then. You are standing in front of the person, which is the best possible position to be in.
If it cannot be resolved, do not take it. Raise it from the order instead, and you are covered the same as any other purchase. How to message a seller about an order
If you cannot make it
Message the store before the deadline. Almost every store will wait for somebody who told them. The no-show fee exists for people who simply never came. What does "collect by" mean?
