How to sell beauty products on Metzee

Seals, batch codes and dates. And the licence question, which is yours rather than ours.

Two things to settle before you list anything in this category.

First: is it yours to sell

Metzee's policy names medicines and supplements among the things that need a licence somebody must hold, and it is explicit that the question is whether you hold what the law requires — not whether the product is fine, and not something Metzee can check for you. Prohibited items.

So: cosmetics and ordinary beauty products are one thing. Anything that treats, cures or supplements is another, and the licence is yours. If you are unsure which side of that line your product sits on, ask before listing.

Second: can you show the seal and the code

This category is targeted hard by counterfeiters, which means buyers look for evidence rather than assurance. What you can show:

  • The seal, intact, on camera
  • The batch code, readable
  • The expiry or best-before, where printed
  • The period-after-opening symbol — the small open jar with a number and an M, which says how long the product is intended to be used once opened
  • Where you bought it, said plainly

No video call authenticates a cosmetic. A seller who shows the code and says where it came from is doing the honest version of this.

Opened products

If something has been opened, say so, say how much is left as a percentage, and say when it was opened if you know. Never decant, never repackage, and never sell something whose own container you cannot show.

What not to write

Claims that a product treats, cures, heals or prevents anything. That is a claim you cannot support, and it is also the line between a cosmetic and something that needs the licence above.

Delivery

Liquids leak and heat does the rest. Packing beauty products.

Questions people ask

Can I sell a used makeup item?

Say it is used, how much is left, and when it was opened — and accept that some buyers will only buy sealed.

Can I sell supplements or medicines?

Only if you hold what the law requires. Metzee cannot check that for you, and "it is only vitamins" is not an answer to the question.

What if the batch code has rubbed off?

Say so. A product whose code cannot be read is worth less, and pretending otherwise is the problem.
