How to sell sneakers on Metzee

Size, condition and completeness decide the price. The camera is how you prove all three.

Sneakers sell well live because the three things that decide the price are all things a photograph argues about and a camera settles.

What actually decides the price

Size. The same shoe in a common size and a rare one are different items. Say it early and say it clearly.

Condition. Unworn with the box is a different object from worn twice, which is a different object from worn.

Completeness. Original box, extra laces, any inserts. For deadstock pairs the box is a real part of the value, and a crushed one costs you.

What to show on camera

  • The size tag inside, held still and in focus
  • The sole, because wear shows there first
  • The toe box creasing, straight on
  • Heel counters for collapse
  • Any yellowing, under the same light as the rest

If a buyer asks for a closer look at any of those, give it. A seller who will not show the sole has told the room something.

Describing condition

The trade's words: deadstock (DS) for unworn with original box, VNDS for worn once or twice, then honest description of wear. The full vocabulary.

Say the flaw. It raises the price rather than lowering it, because a bidder who cannot see the wear assumes more of it than there is.

On authentication

Buyers will ask. The useful answer is where you got them and what you can show — not a confident assurance.

If you cannot establish a pair's history, say so and price accordingly. A seller who says "this came in a lot and I am selling it as unverified" is more trusted than one who implies certainty they do not have.

Delivery

The shipping box is not the shoe box. Posting a pair in their own box arrives crushed, and for a deadstock pair the box was part of what was bought. Packing them.
