Store logo and photos

A store is not a person, and Metzee keeps the two apart. What goes where.

Your store picture and your personal picture are separate, and they never mix. A buyer looking at your store sees the store's logo; your own profile picture stays yours.

That is deliberate. A store is a business even when it is one person, and conflating the two confuses buyers about who they are dealing with.

What you need

A store logo. Square, simple, legible at the size of a thumbnail — which is smaller than you are designing at.

Photographs of your work or stock, for the store page.

That is it. Neither needs a designer.

What makes a logo work here

Legible tiny. It appears beside your name in lists, in chat, on a phone. Detail disappears; shape and contrast survive.

High contrast, because the app is dark. A dark logo on a dark background vanishes.

Not a photograph. Photographs make poor logos at small sizes — they turn to mush.

Not text-heavy. Your name is already written next to it.

If you have nothing, a single letter or a simple mark in one strong colour beats a placeholder, and beats a blurry photograph of a shop front.

What not to use

Somebody else's brand or logo. The fastest route to a store coming down. Using someone else's brand, photos or words

A stock image. Buyers recognise them.

A picture of your face as the store logo, unless you genuinely are the brand. Your face belongs on your profile; the store is the store. If you host shows, buyers will see you there anyway.

Store photographs

Show the work, not the workspace. A clean shot of what you sell says more than a photograph of your desk.

Use your own. Catalogue images on a second-hand item are the clearest red flag a buyer can see. Can I use the manufacturer's photo?

Consistent lighting across them. A set that looks like one store reads as competence; a mixed set reads as improvisation.

While you are live

What is on camera is you and the item. That is where personality belongs — the logo is for when you are not there. How to go live
