How to schedule a show, step by step

Every field on the scheduling screen, what each one changes for buyers, and the three that are easy to get wrong.

A scheduled show is announced to your followers and gets a countdown. A show you start without scheduling does not. That is the whole reason to schedule.

Getting there

Seller → Shows → Schedule a Live Show. The sheet is headed Schedule a Show.

The fields, in order

Name your show *

The only required field. It is what appears on the countdown, in the announcement and in browse. "Saree drop — Kanjivaram, 40 pieces" tells a buyer whether to set an alarm; "Sunday show" does not. Leave it empty and you get Please name your show.

Date & Time

Tap Select date and time. It must be in the future — a past time gives Pick a time in the future.

Pick a time you will actually be ready at. The countdown is a promise, and a show that starts forty minutes late loses the people who turned up on time.

Primary Category

What the show mostly is. This is how buyers browsing a category find it.

Primary Language

The language you will speak. Buyers filter on this, so it matters more than it looks.

Thumbnail

Add a Thumbnail, described as Add a thumbnail so buyers can spot your show. One item, well lit, filling the frame. This is the picture the countdown carries.

Show Discoverability

Choose how you want your show to be discovered.

  • Everyone — listed and announced.
  • Private — Not listed, not announced. Reachable only by a link you send.

Private is for a show for a group you already have. It will not bring new buyers, because nobody can find it.

Who can buy

Three choices, and this is the field people set wrong:

  • Everyone
  • Only my delivery area — buyers outside it cannot buy
  • My area, pickup for everyone else — they can still collect in person

Set it narrower than your delivery actually is and you will watch people sit in the chat unable to bid.

The parts further down

Muted Words

Add muted words — chat terms blocked for this show. Worth setting once before your first show rather than during it.

Explicit Content

A flag for a show that needs it. Most do not.

Repeat Show

Repeats turns one show into a series — the same slot every week, without re-entering any of the above. Cancelling one later asks This show and every one after or Just this show.

Saving it

Save as Draft keeps it without announcing it, and drafts live under Drafts. Finishing the sheet schedules it properly, which is what sends the announcement.

Before it starts

  • Share Countdown gives you the link for WhatsApp and Instagram. The announcement reaches your followers; the link reaches everyone else.
  • Prepare lineup lets you queue the items in advance, so going live is not also an admin job. See how to put an item up during a show.
  • Start a rehearsal — Practise the whole thing for real, with How long you’ll practise for. It behaves exactly like a show and sells nothing. Do one before your first real show.

Changing or cancelling it

Open the show from the list. Cancel this show? asks to confirm, and for a repeating show asks whether you mean the series. Delete Permanently removes it entirely.

Cancelling a show people have set an alarm for costs you more than running a thin one. If you have twelve items instead of forty, run it with twelve.

Questions people ask

How far ahead should I schedule?

Far enough for the announcement to reach people — a few days, not a few hours. A countdown nobody saw is the same as no countdown.

Can I change the time after announcing?

Edit the show. Anyone who set an alarm sees the new time, but moving it twice teaches people not to trust the time at all.

Do I have to schedule, or can I just go live?

You can just go live. You lose the announcement and the countdown. See how to go live.

What happens to a private show?

Nothing is listed or announced. Only people with your link arrive.
