Yes. One account does both, and there is no second account to create.
How it works
Your account buys. Opening a store adds selling to the same login, with its own name, logo and shop page kept separate from your personal profile.
So you can bid in somebody else's show on Friday and run your own on Saturday, from one app and one login. Nothing switches, nothing needs toggling.
What stays separate
- Your store name is what buyers see on your listings and shop page.
- Your personal name is what shows in chat and next to a bid.
Two names, one account. Changing one does not change the other. Changing your display name.
Your money is also separate in the way that matters: what you spend as a buyer and what you earn as a seller are different balances, and your earnings statement is about your store rather than your purchases.
The one restriction
You cannot bid on your own items.
Not through this account, not through another one, and not through someone on your store's team — a member of a store cannot bid on that store either. Bidding on your own listing is shill bidding, with the reserve price and the other bids visible to you, and it is the thing that would make a live-auction marketplace worthless.
That restriction is about the item, not the account. Everything else in your own category, from other sellers, you can buy freely.
Buying from someone you compete with
Entirely allowed and extremely common. Resellers buy stock from each other, collectors sell duplicates to the person who outbid them last month, and sellers in the same category are each other's best customers.
The practical advantages
You learn the format from the inside. A seller who has bid in other people's shows is dramatically better at running their own, because they have felt what a slow lineup or a silent host does to a room.
You source stock. Estate sales, bulk lots, other sellers' clearances.
Your buying history is a credential. A store run by someone who clearly buys in that category reads differently from one that does not.
One thing to watch
Your own wins have payment windows like anyone else's, and an unpaid win is a strike against you whether or not you have a store. Running a show while a win of your own is unpaid is a bad combination.
