Yes. Fixed-price listings sell without a show, and plenty of stores run entirely that way. Sell any time, even offline is a real option, not a consolation.
What you can run without ever going live
- Buy-now listings. A price, photos, a description. Someone buys it.
- Timed auctions. An auction does not need a show — it runs to a clock on its own.
- Offers, if you switch them on, so buyers can name a price.
- Discount codes and flash deals. How to run an offer.
The limit worth knowing
Buy-now listing slots are capped by tier: 5 at Starter, 10 at Verified, 20 at Pro, unlimited at Brand Partner.
Auctions are not slot-limited the same way, which matters if you have more stock than slots — and the way up a tier is paid sales and a PAN on file. How to get verified.
What you give up
Three things, and they are the three that make live auctions work:
1. The explaining. In a show you hold the thing up, turn it, name the flaw, say why it is good. On a listing you get six photos and a description to do the same job, and most of what you would have said out loud goes unsaid. How to write a condition description.
2. The competition. An auction with two people watching the same item behaves completely differently from a listing sitting at a fixed price. Bidding against a visible rival is most of why live prices beat shelf prices.
3. The attention. A show is an event. People turn up at a time, for you. A listing waits to be found.
When listings-only is genuinely the right call
- You sell identical, known items where there is nothing to explain and price is the whole decision.
- Your stock is slow and high-value — one piece a week, not forty.
- You cannot commit to a time. An unreliable schedule is worse than none; a cancelled show costs more than a show never promised.
The middle path most sellers end up on
Listings as the floor, a show when you have enough stock to fill one. The listings earn quietly; the show brings the followers who then buy the listings.
If you want the auction format without the camera, a timed auction is exactly that: competition and a clock, no broadcast.
