One person holding an item, reading chat, running the lineup and watching the clock is one person doing four jobs. A second device fixes most of it.
Three arrangements
1. Producer on a second phone. Somebody else lines up items and runs the show while you hold things and talk. There is a role for exactly this — a Show producer "lines up items and runs the show from a second phone", in the app's own words. The roles in a store team
The biggest improvement available to a busy show, and it needs a person rather than a purchase.
2. Your own second screen. A tablet or laptop beside you showing the chat, while the phone broadcasts. You see questions without taking the camera off the item. Using Metzee on a laptop
3. A second camera angle, where one phone is on the item and the other is on you. The most technical and the least necessary. Using a better camera for your shows
What to watch out for
Audio feedback. Two devices in one room with microphones open will howl. Mute the one that is not broadcasting.
Battery. Both plugged in. A second device dying mid-show is a distraction you do not need.
Confusion about who is doing what. Agree beforehand who moves the lineup on, or you will both do it.
If you are alone
A second screen for the chat is still worth it. The thing that loses rooms is questions going unanswered while the host is looking at an item — and a glance at a tablet beside you is cheaper than picking up the broadcasting phone. Handling questions while you sell
For buyers, the same trick
Watch on a tablet, bid on a phone. Same account, same auction, nothing breaks. The big screen judges the item; the phone in your hand places the bid. Bidding on a phone without missing the item
What does not need a second device
Going live at all. One phone is the baseline and plenty of good shows never use more. Do not let a setup become the reason you have not started. Going live from a phone
Monitoring the stream. Watching your own show on a second device to check it looks right is a reasonable instinct and a bad habit — you end up performing to the lag rather than to the room. Check it once at the start, then leave it.
