Two kinds of object with opposite delivery profiles, often won by the same buyer on the same night.
Books
Light individually, heavy in runs. A twenty-volume set is a serious parcel, and this is where sellers most often underquote. Weigh the packed box. Packing manga.
A weight rule is right. A flat rate will either overcharge a single volume or lose money on a run.
Figures
Light but large, especially boxed — and the collectible box goes inside a shipping carton, which makes the parcel larger again. Most couriers price on size as well as weight, so measure the outer carton.
The four options
Courier for both, costed differently. Your own delivery locally, good for big sets. Pickup for long runs and large boxed figures. Buyer arranges for collections.
Combining wins
Books combine beautifully until the weight tips over. Boxed figures barely combine at all. Combining is on by default and you set what each later win adds — in a mixed category, set it with the awkward item in mind and say in the show how it works.
When collection is the honest answer
For complete runs and for large boxed figures. Pickup terms are agreed before bidding with a collect-by window. How pickup works.
Questions people ask
Should a run ship in one box?
Up to what you can lift comfortably, then split it and say so.
Do dust jackets need anything extra?
Tissue between the jacket and the board, so it does not scuff.
What about the monsoon?
Sealed bag inside, every time. Paper is the vulnerable half of this category.
