No. Nothing on Metzee passes through Metzee's hands. Items go from the seller to you.
Saying otherwise would be the single most damaging lie a marketplace could tell, because you would stop checking.
What is checked
The seller, before they can take payments. Identity and a real payout account in their own name — so there is a findable person with money at stake rather than an anonymous listing. How sellers are checked before they can sell
Listings, when something is reported. An item can be taken down with a reason, and the seller is told what it was. That is moderation after the fact, not inspection before it. Why was my item taken down?
Home banners, before they run. The one thing genuinely reviewed in advance, and only because it is an advertisement on Metzee's own front page.
What replaces inspection
Live video, which is better than it sounds. A photograph is chosen; a request is not. Asking a seller to turn something over, tilt it to the light or read the label out is a check you are running yourself, in real time, and it is hard to fake.
Use it. The single most useful sentence in any show is "what is the worst thing about it?" — and the answer, or the lack of one, tells you most of what you need.
The money being held until the item reaches you.

What this means for fakes
Metzee does not authenticate. A counterfeit is against the rules and comes down when found, but "found" means reported or spotted, not screened. Metzee's position on counterfeits
So for categories where fakes are common, your own care matters and the seller's willingness to show you things matters more than any badge.
