The text is too small to read

Your phone's text size works. Zoom works too. What to do about anything that does not scale.

Use your phone’s own text size setting. Metzee's layout is built in relative units, so larger system text makes Metzee's text larger with it.

The three things to try

1. Your phone’s text size. In display or accessibility settings. This is the right fix because it applies everywhere, not just here.

2. Bold text and increased contrast, in the same place. On a dark interface, bold text often helps more than size does. Does Metzee have a dark mode?

3. Pinch to zoom, on a page you are reading. Works on listings and on blog pages like this one. It does not work usefully on a live show, because that is video.

What is known to scale badly

Being honest about where it gets awkward rather than claiming it is perfect:

  • Dense number panels — the figures on a seller's earnings and analytics screens are tight by nature, and at very large text sizes columns can get cramped.
  • The live show overlay. Bid amounts, the timer and the chat all sit over video in a fixed frame. There is less room to grow there than on an ordinary page.
  • Long translated strings. A line that fits in English can wrap awkwardly in a language that needs more characters for the same meaning, and at large text sizes that is more visible.

If one of those is unusable rather than just tight, that is a bug worth reporting with a screenshot — it is the only way the specific screen gets found.

What will not help

Rotating to landscape in a live show. The video is portrait; you get the same frame with bars.

Requesting the desktop site. It will make everything smaller, not larger.

For reading long things

A listing description or a page like this one works well in your browser's reader mode, which strips the layout and gives you plain text at any size. It is the best tool available for a long description you are trying to read carefully.

Not available on a show, which is video rather than text.

The thing worth doing before bidding

If you cannot comfortably read the price and the timer in a live show, do not bid in that show until you have sorted it out. Those are the two numbers a decision rests on, and misreading a price in a room moving quickly is an expensive way to discover a text-size problem.

Set a maximum bid instead, from the item page where the text is larger and nothing is moving. What a maximum bid is
