What is a second chance offer?

The winner did not pay, so the item is offered to you — at your own bid, with twelve hours to decide.

You bid, somebody outbid you, and the item went to them. Then they did not pay.

Rather than relist it into nothing, the item is offered to you, at your own bid — not theirs.

Why twelve hours

Because you were not expecting it. You had already filed it away as lost, possibly days ago. Thirty minutes would be a trick; twelve hours is a decision.

It is a real offer, not a trap

The price is the number you actually bid. You are not being asked to match the winner's bid, and there is no pressure to take it. Decline and it moves on.

How to tell a real one from a scam

This matters, because a fake second-chance offer is one of the oldest auction scams there is.

A real one appears inside Metzee, on the order, where you can see the item and the price. We will never send you a WhatsApp message asking you to pay somebody directly, and neither should the seller — a deal taken off the platform has no protection on either side.

Questions people ask

Do I have to take it?

No. Ignore it and it expires.

Is the price my bid or the winner’s?

Yours — the amount you actually bid, not the higher one that won it. You are not being asked to match anybody.

Can I negotiate it?

No — that is what the bidding was.

Why did the winner not pay?

We do not share that, and it is rarely interesting. What happens to them.
