There is no Android app to install or update yet. Metzee runs in your phone’s browser, so there is no version of it that can fall behind.
So if you have read "update the app" somewhere, it is generic advice rather than a Metzee requirement — the Help pages carry the line Update the app, then close and reopen it. Screenshots or a screen recording help us most. as standard troubleshooting, and the first half of it does not apply to a browser.
The browser equivalent
What that advice is actually getting at is: you may be looking at a stale copy.
- Reload the page. Pull down to refresh, or tap the address bar and go again.
- Close the tab and reopen it. Browsers hold pages in memory aggressively on phones.
- Get out of an in-app browser. A link opened from WhatsApp or Instagram runs in their own browser, which caches differently and behaves worse. Open it in Chrome or Safari.
That covers nearly everything a forced update would have.
What is not a forced update
"Needs the latest database update." You may see a message like that on a particular feature. It means the server is missing a migration, not that your device is out of date — there is nothing you can do about it and nothing you need to do. It is a note for whoever runs the site.
What happens when the app does ship
Two things worth knowing in advance:
- Nothing will move. Your account, orders, bids and credits live on the server, not on the device. Installing an app signs you in to the same account.
- A browser will keep working. The app is intended as a better way in — notifications especially — rather than a replacement for the site.
Until then, anything telling you to install Metzee from an app store is not us. Do I need the app?
If a page genuinely looks broken
Reload first. If it persists, report it — that is the only way a layout bug gets found, and a screenshot is the most useful thing you can attach. How to report a seller or listing
More: the app is draining my battery, the app is using a lot of storage, I was signed out for no reason.
