Nothing is asked for when you arrive. You can browse, watch a whole show, and read everything without granting anything.
Permissions are asked at the moment they are needed, by your browser, and you can refuse.
Camera and microphone
Asked when you go live, and only then. A seller broadcasting needs both; a buyer never needs either.
If you are a buyer and something asks for your camera, that is not Metzee doing it — check what you are actually looking at. Fake Metzee websites and messages
Refusing means you cannot broadcast. Everything else works.
Notifications
Asked when you want to be told things — a show starting, being outbid, a win to pay for.
Worth granting if you bid: a win you never saw is the saddest way to collect a strike, and there is only a limited grace for it. What is an unpaid win?
You can turn them down afterwards without turning them off entirely. Notifications, explained
What is never asked for
Your contacts. Your photos, beyond the file you choose to upload. Your location — delivery uses the PIN code you type, not where your phone is. Your microphone as a buyer.
If something asks for any of those claiming to be Metzee, it is not. Messages that are not from Metzee
Why there are so few
Because it is a website rather than an installed app. A browser only grants what a page asks for, at the moment it asks, and you can see the prompt — there is no permissions list agreed to in advance and forgotten about. Why is there no iPhone app?
If you refused and want to change it
Browser settings, per site. Clear the site's permissions and the prompt comes back next time it is needed.
On a phone, check the system permission as well — a browser cannot grant a camera it does not itself have.
For sellers whose camera will not start
Usually the permission, occasionally another app holding the camera. Test it in a rehearsal rather than in front of a room. Can I practise before going live for real?
