No. A refund goes back the way you paid, and Metzee Credits are not an alternative you can choose.
That is worth stating plainly, because the question usually comes from somewhere reasonable: a refund takes days and credit would be instant. It is simply not how credits work here.
What Metzee Credits actually are
Promotional. Earned, never bought, never cashed out — and they only reduce the price of an order.
So they are not a wallet. You cannot put money into them, cannot take money out, and cannot convert a refund into them.
The limits worth knowing
- At most 25% of the item price can be paid with credits. The rest is money.
- Shipping is always paid in money. Credits never cover delivery.
- Reward credits expire after 180 days without being earned or spent, with reminders before that. Credits granted by Metzee staff do not expire.
That 25% cap is the one that surprises people: a ₹200 credit balance does not buy a ₹200 item.
How you get them
Mainly by inviting someone who then buys: the person who invited gets a reward and the friend who joined gets a welcome amount, both when that first qualifying order is delivered rather than placed. There is a minimum order value for it to count. How to invite a friend
Metzee staff can also grant credits as goodwill — for example where something went wrong that was not a refundable order problem. That is at their discretion and is not something you can request as a substitute for a refund.
What to do instead, if you want it faster
A partial refund. If the issue is a flaw rather than a wrong item, a partial refund with you keeping the item is usually the fastest resolution available — no postage, no waiting for a return to arrive. Can I get a partial refund?
Ask early. Most of a refund's elapsed time is the first leg: getting it issued. A seller who answers in an hour has saved you days. How long does a refund take?
Why credits are not used for refunds
A refund in credits would mean money you paid in rupees coming back as something only spendable here, on terms we set, with an expiry. That is worse for you than your money back, and a marketplace offering it as the default would be taking advantage of the fact that it is faster.
