Delivering bags: courier, local or collection

Light, bulky and shape-sensitive. The box is bigger than you think and that is the whole cost.

A bag weighs little and takes up a lot of room, which is exactly the combination that surprises a seller at the counter.

What decides it

Volume. A bag must be stuffed to hold its shape and boxed so nothing presses in, which means a parcel considerably larger than the bag. Most couriers price on size as well as weight, so measure the packed box. Packing bags.

The four options

Courier — the default, boxed rather than in a soft mailer. Your own delivery — good locally, especially for higher-value pieces. Pickup — useful for valuable bags and for buyers who want to see the leather. Buyer arranges — occasionally.

When collection is the honest answer

For a genuinely valuable bag, and for buyers nearby who would rather look first. It is also a good way to sell in this category, because condition is most of the price and seeing it settles the question.

Pickup terms are agreed before bidding with a collect-by window of 72 hours unless you set otherwise. How pickup works.

Combining wins

Two bags is two boxes' worth of volume, so combining helps less here than in flat categories. Small accessories combine well with a bag. Combining is on by default and you set what each later win adds.

Damp

Leather and the monsoon are a bad pairing. A sealed bag inside the box for the journey — and tell the buyer to take it out of the plastic when it arrives, because sealed plastic is right for three days and wrong for three months. Storing bags.

Questions people ask

Can I post a bag in a courier bag?

No. It arrives with its shape gone.

Should the dust bag be included?

If it is part of the sale, yes — and it is the right first layer.

Free delivery over a value?

Works here, if costed on the box.
