Delivering sarees: courier, local or collection

Light, foldable and almost ideal to post — as long as the monsoon is accounted for.

Fabric is one of the best things to send across India: light, compressible and not fragile. The only real enemy is water.

The four options

Courier — the default, and right for nearly everything here. Your own delivery — worth offering locally for occasion wear, where buyers often want it quickly. Pickup — useful for high-value pieces and for buyers who want to see the weave. Buyer arranges — rarely needed.

What decides it

Weight is low and predictable, so a weight rule with a generous first slab works. The decision that matters is not the method but the moisture barrier — a sealed bag inside the parcel, every time. Packing sarees.

Combining wins

Excellent here. Several sarees from one show travel in one parcel with almost no extra weight, and combining is on by default with whatever you set for each later win.

Say it in the show. In this category buyers very often want two or three, and knowing they ship together is what makes the third bid happen.

When collection is the honest answer

For a genuinely valuable piece — a heavy zari saree where both sides would rather it was handed over — and for buyers nearby who want to feel the fabric first. Pickup terms are agreed before bidding, with a collect-by window. How pickup works.

Festival season

Courier networks are slower and heavier-loaded around festivals, and buyers are usually buying for a date. Say your dispatch window honestly and do not promise a delivery date you do not control. Festival season delivery.

Questions people ask

Should I offer same-day locally?

If you can keep it, it sells. Occasion wear is often bought late.

Does a blouse piece change the weight?

Barely. Combined wins are where weight adds up.

Free delivery above a value?

Common in this category and it works, if it is in your pricing.
