How to offer pickup, step by step

Adding a collection point, setting the days and hours, and the two terms that decide what happens when nobody turns up.

Pickup costs you no courier and no packaging, and it is the only delivery method where you meet the buyer. It is also the one with a failure mode worth setting terms for before it happens.

Where it lives

Seller settings → Shipping & delivery, described as Set up how you deliver.

Two parts to do, in this order: the point, then the delivery option that uses it.

1. Add the point

Under Pickup points, described as Where buyers collect their orders, use + Add pickup point.

  • The address. Full, with a valid PIN code — Enter the full address with a valid PIN code. The buyer gets this only after paying; before that they see the area.
  • Name (optional) — e.g. Farm gate. Worth filling in if you have more than one point, because the buyer sees it.
  • Note for buyers (optional) — e.g. Call when you arrive. This is where "gate is round the back", "ask at the chemist", "ring the bell twice" goes. It saves more phone calls than anything else on the screen.

Pickup days

Choose the days buyers can collect. Open every day, or Open on specific days with Opens and Closes times.

Set these honestly. Days you say you are open and are not are the main cause of a buyer arriving to a locked door, and that is a one-star rating about a perfectly good item.

2. The delivery option that offers it

Under Delivery options, a Delivery option sets How buyers get these items — How items using this option reach buyers, and what they pay.

  • Pickup only — collection is the only way.
  • With a delivery zone: Buyers anywhere else can collect, so They can still buy and collect from a pickup point. This is the useful one. Your own area gets delivery; everybody else can still buy, if they can get to you.

If you have several points, you can tick which ones this option uses — None ticked = all of them.

3. The two terms that matter

Collect within

How long the buyer has from the order being ready. 72 hours by default. The minimum is 6 hours and the maximum is 14 days.

Short is not generous to you. Someone who cannot get there inside your window does not buy at all.

If it isn’t collected, you keep

The no-show fee: your share if the buyer never comes. 7% is by default, and 20% at most.

This is not a punishment, it is the cost of having held an item, refused other buyers for it, and been stood up. Keep it low. A seller whose terms look designed for the bad case gets fewer of the good ones.

These items spoil

For food, flowers, anything with a shelf life. It changes the terms, and the buyer is told plainly: They agree to collect before they bid or buy. They agree to it before bidding, not after winning, which is the whole point.

4. Save

Save shipping rules, and you will see Shipping rules saved.

The holidays, which are part of this

Working days & holidays — Days you won’t deliver, ship or hand over orders. Use + Add holiday for a festival or a closure.

A holiday you forget to add is a buyer turning up at a shut door with a valid order. For a longer break, use vacation mode rather than a holiday.

What a buyer sees

The area before they bid, the full address and your note after they pay, your days and hours, and the collect-by time. The no-show terms are shown before they commit, not after.

Questions people ask

Can I offer pickup and delivery together?

Yes, and it is the usual setup — a delivery zone for your own area, with collection available to everyone else.

What if the buyer never comes?

Your Collect within time passes and the no-show terms apply. What happens if I don't collect.

Can I do pickup only?

Yes — Pickup only. It limits you to people who can reach you, which for heavy or fragile things is the right trade. What pickup only means.

Do I have to give my home address?

You have to give an address the buyer can reach. A shop, a market stall, a relative's shop, a co-working reception — any real place you will actually be during your stated hours works.

Should I take cash at the point?

Collection is for an order that is already paid. The payment happened in the app; you are handing over goods, not selling them at the gate.
