Notifications are how Metzee reaches you, and since email is not switched on yet they are the only way. So this screen matters more here than it would elsewhere.
Where it is
Profile → Notifications, headed Notification preferences with Control what alerts you receive and how.
The grid
Each group of notifications can be set per channel: IN-APP, PUSH, EMAIL and SOUND.
The groups are Bidding, Buying, Selling, Listings, Account and Metzee team. So you can keep bidding alerts loud on your phone and leave listing announcements in the app only.
A note on the EMAIL column: the switches are there, but email is not being sent yet. Setting it changes what will happen once it is. I am not getting emails.
The group you cannot switch off
Always on — money, deadlines and account safety:
Payment windows, wins, refunds, account warnings. The screen also spells out the other side — You can switch off: {list} — so what is fixed and what is yours is stated rather than implied.
This is the right design and worth not resenting. A missed payment-window notice costs you the item and a strike. That is not a notification anybody should be able to turn off by accident at eleven at night.
The ones to keep on
Bidding— being outbid is time-sensitive and useless to learn about tomorrow.Buying— wins, dispatch, delivery.- Shows from sellers you follow, if you actually buy in shows. Following without the alert is following nothing. How to follow a seller.
The one to switch off freely
Offers and spotlights by email — Occasional deals and featured stores from Metzee. Marketing. Turning it off costs you nothing you need.
Sound and vibration
Sound & vibration and Notification sounds, with TONE — TAP TO HEAR IT so you can try each one: Metzee chime, Soft pop, Counter bell, Bright, our signature, Warm and lower, Short and quiet.
VOLUME is High, Medium or Low. Vibrate when outbid gives you A short buzz on your phone the moment you’re outbid, and Hear the urgent sound (outbid, wins, deadlines) keeps the distinct tone for the things with a clock on them.
The useful setup: one quiet tone for everything, and the urgent sound left on. Then a noise means something is expiring.
Quiet hours
Quiet hours · 10 pm – 7 am. Worth knowing if you wonder why a late show announcement did not wake you — which is usually a feature.
While you are on this screen
The same preferences area carries Default sort — How listings are sorted by default: Newest first, Most bids, Price: high to low, Price: low to high. Most bids is a good default if you browse for things other people want.
And Language & display. How to change your language.
If nothing arrives at all
Then the setting is not the problem — the permission is. Metzee runs in your phone’s browser for now, so notification permission is granted to the browser. Check it in your phone’s settings, and remember your orders list always holds the truth whether or not a notification arrived.
