Two different screens answer two different questions, and confusing them is why sellers think a number is wrong.
Your earnings— what you sold and what you made. The story of the month.Payouts— what is withdrawable right now and what is on its way to your bank. The story of today.
A healthy month with nothing withdrawable is normal. Here is why.
Part one — Your earnings
Where earnings come from
The top block, built out of sales:
Gross sales—List value of items sold, before anythingItem sales— what buyers actually paid for the itemsShipping charged to buyersDiscounts given—Discount you gave, as a reduction
Read Item sales rather than Gross sales when you want to know how you did. Gross is list value; item sales is money.
What came off your balance
Everything deducted, in one place: Fees, Discount codes, Flash deals, the delivery a buyer paid that goes back to Metzee, and Boosts and events you paid for out of your balance.
Two things here surprise people:
- A boost is paid out of your balance, so promotion you ran in a good week comes off the money from that week.
- Delivery the buyer paid is not yours when Metzee booked the courier. It passes through.
The tax lines appear here too — GST on the fee, and the TCS and TDS a marketplace is required to deduct, under section 194-O. Each shows the live percentage next to it, which is the number to trust rather than any figure written in a blog post.
What you actually made
The bottom line, and the one worth watching month to month. ₹{n} profit on every ₹100 of sales turns it into a figure you can compare.
If you have filled in What the materials cost you on your items, this is a real margin. If you have not, it is revenue after Metzee's charges and nothing else — the screen prompts you with Add costs to your items → for exactly this reason.
Exporting it
Export statement and Download CSV give you the rows. Since {date} · useful for GST and income-tax filing is the one your accountant wants. Showing latest {n} of {total} · export all — the screen shows a page; the export is everything.
Part two — Payouts
The four states money passes through
On the way to buyers— sold, not delivered. Not yours yet.On hold (just delivered)—Held briefly after delivery in case of issues. This is the settlement hold: 24 hours after it is delivered, shown asSettlement hold · {n}h.Held by returns & disputes— an open return or dispute freezes that order's money until it is resolved.Held for disputes.Available to withdraw— yours. This is the only number you can actually take.
So the gap between "I sold ₹40,000 this month" and "I can withdraw ₹9,000" is almost always these three, not a mistake.
Getting it out
Withdraw, or Withdraw {amount}. Minimum payout {min}. applies — below it you get You can withdraw once you have at least {min}.
Payout schedule decides whether you have to ask:
Every Monday—Checked every Monday from 9am. Minimum {min}.On the 1st of each month—Checked on the 1st from 9am. Minimum {min}.When I ask—Tap Withdraw whenever you want your money.
With an automatic schedule you can set Only if the balance is at least (₹), so a small week rolls into the next instead of making a tiny transfer.
Once sent it shows Requested, then Paid. Usually credited within 2 business days.
Payout history
Every one, with To {name} · A/C ••••{last4}. A Failed payout is almost always a details mismatch rather than lost money — payout failed.
You owe Metzee {amount}
A negative balance. It happens when refunds, promotions or courier charges exceed what came in. It is settled out of the next sales rather than billed, but it is the number to fix first: nothing is withdrawable while it stands.
The three checks worth doing monthly
What you actually madeagainst last month. One number, one comparison.Taken off in total. If deductions are climbing faster than sales, find out which line.Held by returns & disputes. Money sitting here is a returns problem wearing a finance costume. Resolve the returns and it releases.
Questions people ask
Why can't I withdraw what I earned?
Because most of it is either undelivered, inside the 24-hour hold, or frozen by an open return. The three figures above add up to the difference.
When does the money actually arrive?
After you request it (or your schedule runs), usually within two business days.
Does a partial refund change my earnings?
Yes — the order stays a sale and its earnings go down by what you refunded.
What is the fee on a sale?
The live percentage is shown on the statement and in the fee calculator on that screen. What comes out of a sale.
Why don’t my statement and my bank match?
They are not meant to. The statement is sales in a period; the bank is payouts that cleared. An order sold on the 30th is in one and not the other.
