What happens if I stop selling for a while?

Nothing bad. What quietly changes while you are away, and what to do before you go.

Nothing is taken away. There is no monthly fee, no inactivity charge, and no deadline by which you have to sell something.

Your store, your ratings and your followers stay as they are.

What happens on its own

Auction listings go stale after 30 days and stop being shown. They are not deleted — you relist when you come back, free.

Fixed-price listings run for 30 days and then need renewing, same deal.

Your balance stays yours. It does not expire and nothing is deducted for sitting there. What is my balance?

Followers stay followers. They simply have nothing to be notified about.

The one thing that does fade

Your place in people's attention. Live shows rank by who is watching, and a store that has not run one for three months starts its next show from a quieter room than it left. How are shows ordered?

That is recoverable and it costs nothing but a few shows.

Before you go, three things

1. Finish what is open. Post anything sold, answer any return, close any dispute. An order left moving while you are away is the one thing that turns a quiet break into a problem — it hits your defect rate and it strands a buyer.

2. Withdraw what is available, or leave it, as you prefer. But check there is no You owe Metzee balance, because that waits for you.

3. Turn off anything scheduled. A show in the calendar that nobody hosts is worse than no show.

If it is going to be a long time

Close the store rather than leaving it open and empty. A closed store takes its listings down cleanly and tells people, instead of leaving buyers messaging a store nobody is reading. You can reopen it later, and you keep buying in the meantime. How do I close my store?

Coming back

Relist, set a show, and tell your followers it is happening. The followers are the asset that survived the gap, and a scheduled show with a reminder is how you use them. How to schedule a show

Check your delivery rates before the first sale, though — courier prices move while you are away, and the rate you set last year may now be a loss on every parcel. How to set delivery prices
