Act in the first hour and this is almost always fixable. The parcel has not been packed yet, and the seller is the person who can change it.
In the first hour
Message the seller from the order, with the correct address in full. One message, no preamble:
"Order #— I've put the wrong address. The correct one is: [full address with PIN code]. Sorry — could you use this instead?"
That is the whole job. A seller who has not printed a slip yet will simply use the right one.
There is no self-service way to do this, so the message is not a fallback — it is the method. Can I change my delivery address?
Which mistakes still arrive
Not every error is fatal, and it is worth knowing which ones to relax about:
- A missing flat number, with everything else right — often delivers, sometimes with a phone call.
- A spelling mistake in the street name — usually fine. The PIN code does the work.
- A missing landmark — fine. Helpful, not required.
Which ones do not
- The wrong PIN code. This is the serious one. The PIN decides the sorting hub and the delivery charge, and a wrong one sends the parcel to a different part of the country.
- The wrong phone number. Couriers in India call. A wrong number is a failed delivery even when the address is perfect.
- An old address. It will be delivered, correctly, to someone who does not live with you.
If any of those three are wrong, treat it as urgent rather than inconvenient.
After dispatch
The seller cannot change it and neither can Metzee. Two things are left:
Call the courier with the tracking number. Some hold a parcel for collection or redirect within the same city. Policy varies; asking is free.
Tell the seller anyway. A parcel that comes back is far easier to resolve if they were expecting it.
If it was delivered to the wrong address
Raise it from the order and say what happened, including that the address was your mistake. Being straight about it does not weaken your position — it makes the record clear, and the record is what the decision reads.
The ten seconds that prevent it
The address is shown on the payment screen before you pay. Read it there. A win has a short payment window, which is exactly why people skim it — and skimming it is how this post gets read.
